Overwatch 2 - Place Lacroix

Place Lacroix is one of nine maps that shipped with the launch of Stadium mode in season 16. It’s a push mode map designed by Thomas Mountfort with concept art by Airborn Studios. I was the first environment artist on this map and did the asset and layers setup. Drawing on the art kit from the Paris map, I took Lacroix from design blockout to final art. This included modeling the architecture, placing props, and doing the first pass on the ground model. Tim Wasson finished the ground in addition to set dressing and assembling the backdrop. The Stadium spawn rooms were also made by Tim. Lighting was done by Peter Tran. Nina Petchprapa and Alina Alikhanyan were our tech artists, and Jude Stacey provided narrative support for the signage.

Lacroix was a fun (and intense!) style to follow, with lots of crazy decaling based on Simon Fuch’s work on the original Paris map. Special thanks to Peter Lee and Phil Wang for their leadership and guidance, to the incredible artists who worked on the original Paris map, and to the Overwatch team.
