Overwatch 2 - Gogadoro

Gogadoro is one of nine maps that shipped with the launch of Stadium mode in season 16. It’s a capture point map designed by Thomas Mountfort with concepts done by Airborn Studios. I was the first environment artist on this map and did the asset folders and layers setup. Using the art kit from the Busan map, I modeled the ground and the exteriors of all the buildings containing playspaces. I also assembled the interiors out of modular kit and did a significant portion of the set dressing. David Liu added the Stadium theming and Tim Wasson made the spawn rooms. Lighting was done by Peter Tran, and Nina Petchprapa and Alina Alikhanyan were our tech artists. We partnered with Room8 on this map who worked on the ground, backdrop, capture point, and several buildings.

Gogadoro was an interesting map, we wanted to differentiate it from the original Busan by modeling it more after small coastal towns like Gamcheon Culture Village that lie outside the metropolitan city center. Special thanks to Peter Lee and Phil Wang for their leadership and support, to the incredible artists who worked on the original Busan map, and to the Overwatch team.

Gogadoro blends new and existing assets from the Busan kit. These are the portions that were made new for this map.
