This is a scene I originally made in 2017 for a Life is Strange fanart contest. After the contest ended I decided to remake some parts but along the way lost the source files for the Unreal project, got frustrated, and put the whole thing down... until now. Inspired by the coming True Colors game I took some initiative to reimport and relight the scene. The mannequin is based on a model I downloaded and the dust motes and stuff outside the window are from an existing Unreal package; all other parts were made by me. For the most part things were modeled in Blender but I dipped into Marvelous Designer for the bedspread and Rachel’s bag.
This was made well before Before the Storm came out, when Rachel Amber's personality and backstory were still very much a mystery. I imagined her as someone from a blue collar family like Chloe, who floats through life on her good looks and natural charm. A girl whose favorite food is burritos, who would rather be a model than an actress because she hates people who are “fake,” who’s visited her grandparents in New Mexico every summer since childhood, and who dreams of moving to LA to live with her half brother.
In other words, a very different Rachel than the one we got in BtS! To Deck Nine’s credit, I like what they did with the canonical Rachel a lot (even if it bugs me that her parents never would have sat around when she went missing.)
